Naked revolutionaries (ACT-101)
This is strangely named chapter, but after having read it, I am sure you can see why I'm calling us "Naked Revolutionaries".
In this activity we need to really take a look at ourselves and make sure we're not wondering around without anything on. I most countries, that's not acceptable!
If you have not yet seen this, make sure you take a few minutes to watch this video where Ken Robinson calls for the revolution in education that so many are rallying to.
- What other examples can you think of, of tools/equipment that existed hundreds of years ago that we are still using in our classrooms?
- Why do you think modelling our school system on an Industrial model, as Sir Ken Robinson argues we're doing, is such a problem?
- What are common lessons between the two stories - the pencil story (previous chapter) and the emperor story?
- Is edtech working in our classrooms? Perform a search and see how many articles/websites you find that suggest it is working vs it is not working. Just Google phrases - "edtech success" and "edtech failure"
